Winter in the Sub-Tropics

It got down to 8c last night, here in Coffs Harbour on the north coast of NSW.

It wasn't cold, don't think I am complaining, I mean how could it be cold  under flannel sheets, two woollen blankets and a doona....Oh Yeah! and two dogs, even though it wasn't a two dog night.

I told a lady on the beach, one time, that my little dogs were double bed dogs.

"You mean they sleep with you?" She asked.

"Yes, they do."

"What about the smell?" Said the curious one.

I thought that a strange question, "They don't seem to mind." I told her.

"That's disgusting, " Said she as she wandered off.

With the lay of the land here, and the Great Dividing rRnge just up the hill, so to speak' we are only about 80 miles from snow when it comes.  Ebor, up towards Armidale, and Guyra often see snow this time of the year, but nothing skiable, just drifts in the gullies and on the road bridges that are often much lower than the road.

The ocean water remains within a few degrees of summer temperatures and can be up to 24c in mid winter.. warm currents come and go all year round..It's the getting out to grab the towel that is 'running the gauntlet'.

In the middle of Australia, in and around Longreach, where I spent my youth, or  is that splashed my youth, overnight temperatures, in winter, would get down to between 4 and 6c.  There would be ice on the horse troughs and you couldn't put enough warm clothes on to keep the morning chill off the body.  By 8.30am the sun would have you peeling clothes off like a striptease artist in Kings Cross, only you wouldn't get any cheers when you finished, if you did it would be very suspicious.

This is just a meandering of my mind, seems to happen a lot lately, but I get to go places that I have never been before, it's the getting back that is the problem.  Just Joking, I have a good mind, a good imagination and the nurses  here are wonderful.LOL.

The other side

FAR FROM REALITY

OR IS IT?

Is it possible to think of nothing?

Does nothing exist? and if yes, where does it abide?

Again, if yes, what existed before nothing?

Can nothing ever be again, considering all the something that has happened?

Reality is that science that destroys the mind of man, for man's mind is directed by the mind of man, which does not exist in line with reality.

According to the mind of man if one could travel a twice the speed of light, one could travel to the moon and back and shake hands with yourself before you left, given a few moments for a quick hand shake.

What is the opposite to black? if you have an answer to that, what is the opposite to puce?

If one is reincarnated after death, what did the first incarnate reincarnate to?

If you think that you are insane, the probable chances of your being correct are very limited. For one, an insane person would not have the mental stability to know the difference. This is based on very sound scientific principles that state that probability is not a mathematical equation, only scientific mathematical equations are probable, therefore the probability of chance is not scientific, nor provable using scientific probability.

The above statement is proof of its own determination, and if you think you are insane, without scientific backing, and you continue to believe that you are, in fact, insane, the equation is then balanced in your favour. Science is like that.

Not everyone believes the same thing. This is a misnomer, as everyone believes that not everyone believes the same thing.

If you describe something as 'the best thing since sliced bread' do you make that comparison by explaining what the best thing was before sliced bread.

It is something that is the bane of mankind in a democracy, that no matter who you vote for you will be voting for a politician.

At politician school they are taught that if they can't think of something to say, just say anything. And do, often.

A lack of understanding of the Wot-Not

After my experience of the Outback, an experience that I loved, and to where I went back to on many occasions, I did look into other pursuits. One such pursuit was home decorating; however, I was always confused with the use of some of the bits and pieces that folk wanted to put in their homes.

It is with this in mind that I ask these questions: If you were given, or on an some ridiculous impulse purchased, a Wot-Not, would you use it to display thingamajigs or would it be more appropriate to put out your antique watchamacallits?

I purchased a delightful gizmo once, but as it had no user manual I had no way of knowing how it worked. It is in a safe place in the work shed waiting for its time in life to arise.

However, I digress, and it is needed that I return to suitable uses for the Wot-Not. I did suggest to one home decorator that she may use the Wot-Not to show off her wonderful display of gozintas, those magical items that go into some other magical, but otherwise redundant item of great cost but of little value. But her argument was the she had a special item, a one off, that she had trouble of showing with other valuable items of a different value and usefulness, which she had found useless.

I did see a great hoozibob in her cupboard, amongst the cups, which cupboards are designed to hold, I think, which I said would look nice in amongst her watchamacallits, and maybe a smattering of thingos of equal charm.

I did find out that collectors treat their finds like they treat their spouses in that they may not be worth a spit, but they are nice to look at, and if the truth be known, the value is no where near what you have expended. Some even try to sate their thirst of the collecting bug by seeking other worthless spits to display on their Wot-Nots.

I did find that a Wot-Not really displays do-dads to the best of their shine, and that an occasional statue of a whos-e-wot looked exceptionally exceptional.

I never seem to get it right, so I gave up this pursuit and pursued other things worth chasing.

Life's Realities #2

Another fascinating question that one may ask a person who has just fallen from a fourth floor balcony onto the concrete below.

"Are you all right, mate?"

We may even feel a little surprised if the person does not rise to their feet, dust themselves down and reply,
"Yeah! No worries."

Had it been the fifth floor balcony, now that is a different matter, isn't it? Well, isn''t it?

LIFE's REALITIES

I like to listen closely to descriptions of events, the every day events from suburbia, not the mind blowing events of the world at large.

It is wonderful to hear a mother say "Johnny fell of his scooter today and split his head open".

Immediately you imagine Johnny laying in the operating theater, the neurosurgeon looking gravely at this massive split in the boys head before his very eyes,  So you ask.

"What did you do?"

The mother says, " Well, what would you do? I just gave him a kiss and put a band-aid on the lump and sent him off to school".

Of course, how silly of me.

I did get the thought that, maybe, this is where our ferals come from, the tree-huggers, the animal libbers the strange and off the planet do-gooders, may all come from, even.  It could be because mother's thought that school was more important than scraping Johnie's grey matter off the road and putting it back in the cavity created by having ones head split open.

The neurosurgeon says " Something is missing..Do you have a plastic bag with the rest in it?"

You don't of course, so the next thing you can think of, "Just do your best with what you have, after all we can't afford to send him the uni".

The best the surgeon could do was create another feral.
