The Adventures - part five

It seems that Dr Reddie, who assumed her name from this story, and is not an actual person, just in case you were concerned, was so in love with Old Pete, and in truth, we could not blame her, as Old Pete has this effect on other folk, even the occasional bloke, which Old Pete is not inclined to be inclined in that inclination, ifn' ya' know wot I mean. However, Dr Reddie was not a bloke, or that is the popular rumour here-abouts, was besotted by the Old Besotter of her languishing dreams.

Had Old Pete known of his effect on the loveable Dr Reddie, whose given name was Roughen, which I can assure you is a pure bit of imagination on my part, he would have obviously been very verbose in his verbosity of the complicated and very much spoken about, said effect. I can hear his very words right now...In me' noggin, at least.

"Aw Shucks!, I dunno' wot to say." Old Pete was well known for his long and complicated iterations, which when not iterated were often re-iterated so that they could be heard, if any one listened, again.

But Alack and Alas! as me' old mate Bill Shakespeare once said when he was all slack over the lack of some lass that he liked but lacked, Dr Reddie had not conveyed her love to Old Pete who was now being conveyed on the V8 camel conveyance towards his mate, Marakorpa, in the Northern Territory that lies in the north of all other directions on this great island, except for Western Australia and then the NT is east, or Queensland, when the NT is west but in all other cases it is north of everything else, well, maybe if you were in the Arafura sea, then it would be east.

One afternoon, in the later part of the day, Dr Reddie made a decision, and without further cogitation, contemplation of the belly button or any other considerations that should be considered, the good Doctor jumped into her Cyclops pedal car, which she had purchased to keep fuel prices down for budgetary purposes and to save money, and headed off in the direction of the intrepid camel travellers out the back of Bourke, or so.

After a stiff pedal over the Great Dividing Rage, which divides the Outback from the inback, or better known as the burbs, ifn' ya' get closer to the east of the range wot divides. Dr Reddie stopped at a truck stop and found that only trucks stopped at the stop, which gave reason to why it was called truck stop.

The proprietor of the said truck stop admitted to the Doctor that it was quite some time since he had seen a Cyclops pedal car in his truck stop, which Dr Reddie replied in answer to his comment which he had commented just then, or a little before,

"Well no wonder, you only let trucks stop here."

"True, " agreed said proprietor in agreement, which was only to be expected as he was well known for his agreeable nature, or was by truck operators. at least.

So, having filled in a few lines with complete nonsense, we will progress to further nonsense of the greater nonsensicalness kind. (what a great word) and that is no nonsense, Hey?

Doing a couple of do-nuts in the driveway of the truck stop, to the cheers of the truck operates stopped there, Dr Reddie felt a little better as she saw the dough of the nuts splat onto the proprietors coat. The smell of burning rubber from her sand-shoes on the pedals of the ve-heckle added to the exit drama, but gave her a sense of power that one gets from a Cyclops pedal car. I remember my own childhood when I was a kid and a lot younger than I am now, as I bowled old ladies over on the footpath, with gay abandon. Gay was always encouraging me in these things.

However, and nevertheless, Reddie pressed on to her pressing engagement in the depressing heat of the day, and worse when she drove into the deep depressions in the sand dunes, it was enough to make anyone depressed, stressed and freaked out, but not the Good Doctor who had by now gained her Intrepid Club Badge, which will be posted to her previous address where she lived previously, in 7 to 14 days, depending on what came first.

As she approached the camel camp, from whence she could hear delighted screams of delight emanating from the camel camp and where she could also hear Heidi telling Old Pete to stop his screaming as he was scaring the camels; however upon approaching even closer in the approach, she also saw the reason for the delight and the screams.

There, right before her very eyes, was Old Pete and the delighting Heidi , doing......
